Jeroen Lemmens (PhD University of Amsterdam, 2010) is an assistant professor at the Amsterdam School of Communication Research. His research focuses on the risks and opportunities provided by older and emerging forms of digital entertainment and the broader applications that emerging technologies may provide to further society and science. In the current age of pervasive media, it is crucial that we apply the latest methods to analyse how new types of entertainment are used, by whom, and how its users are affected. Additionally, his research aims to examine the application of entertainment technologies in associated subfields. Currently, his main aim is to understand the role of time perception in popular media use by examining factors that influence the perceived time spent on games and short-form videos.
