Two ASCoR researchers were awarded grants by the RPA Human(e) AI, an UvA-wide initiative that is aimed at fostering the investigation of the societal consequences of Artificial Intelligence, and that is committed to building a network of researchers across all faculties of the UvA that together work towards more humane AI.

Margot will explore the adaptation of conversational systems to different age groups in a project with Raquel Fernández and Sandro Pezzelle (Faculty of Science). Tom will focus on the opaque ‘political microtargeting industry’ and employ a new interdisciplinary methodology to a) understand what data are gathered on voters, by whom and why, and b) how these data are mobilized on social media platforms to influence political preferences in a project with Jef Ausloos (Law) and Stefania Milan (Humanities).
