Using interpersonal communication to improve the effectiveness of an e-health intervention

PhD student: Elroy Boers MSc

In this project, three experimental studies will be performed that test the effects of an e-health promotion module about substance use (i.e. alcohol and drugs) on persuasive effects (e.g. attitude and intention towards substance use) as well as on knowledge gained from the module. Especially, in depth knowledge about the role of online interpersonal communication (e.g. discussing substance use, discussing the campaign and popularity of conversation partner), will be retrieved. This knowledge will eventually be used to improve and augment an existing e-health module.

Study 1: effects of online interpersonal communication on substance use determinants

Study 2: the influence of online interpersonal communication on health intervention effect

Study 3: using online interpersonal communication to improve the e-health intervention
